The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor ‘Ayo Clement Adebooye, has lauded the Osun Development Forum, Dallas, Texas Chapter for awarding the sum of one million, one hundred thousand naira (N1,100,000) scholarships to eleven (11) indigent but diligent students of Osun State University.
The Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Management, staff and most importantly, students of the University, appreciate Osun Development Forum and its President, Alhaji Kazeem Adetunji, for their thoughtfulness and benevolence.
“Giving back to the society, sets the scene for trust building, as it endears the donors to the recipients. The gesture of giving back creates an everlasting memory in the minds of beneficiaries, which could spur students to engage in philanthropic acts when they eventually become economically independent in life, being products of philanthropy themselves. One hundred thousand naira (N100,000) means a lot to every student in today’s economy, which makes the gesture the more commendable. Once again, I appreciate you for doing this and pray that you would be replenished in many folds,” the Vice-Chancellor noted.
The scholarship is awarded to the best students in Faculties, starting from their second year, and is maintained till graduation on the basis of sustained academic performance at the highest level.
Osun Development Forum, Dallas, Texas chapter started the scholarship scheme five years ago to decrease the school dropout rate of brilliant but indigent students in Government-owned higher institutions in Osun State, who are of Osun descent.
Seven existing beneficiaries in the University had their scholarships renewed by the Forum, while four new beneficiaries were added to the 2023 list. The new beneficiaries were pooled from the Faculties of Education, Computing and Information Technology, Basic Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences.
Osun State University is a conventional, multi-campus University charged with the production of high quality, well-rounded, globally competitive and entrepreneurial graduates who are catalysts for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development of Osun State and Nigeria.
